How to make a rent receipt
Keeping a record of rent paid is a good idea for both the tenant and the landlord. Rent receipts are a convenient way to consistently track payments made.
You can create your own rent receipts by including a few important pieces of information and filling in the remainder at the time payment is made. Follow a simple outline on how to make a rent receipt and never have to worry about bad bookkeeping or faulty memory when it comes to paying or receiving money for rent.
Open up a word processing program on your computer.
Create three columns on the page.
Type four headings in the first column: Date of receipt, Amount paid, Start of rental period, End of rental period.
Place four more headings in the second column, entitled: Name of landlord, Landlord address, City, state and zip, and Landlord phone.
Duplicate the headings in the second column for use in the third, but replace the word Landlord with Tenant so that the first heading would be "Name of tenant" and the last "Tenant phone".
Insert text boxes under each heading in each column. Make sure they are large enough to accommodate the data that will fill them.
Insert an additional text box underneath the columns and entitle this box "Comments".
Print as many of these self-made rent receipts as you need. Use scissors to cut more than one receipt from a single sheet of paper.
- Save paper by copying the information from the rent receipt and duplicating it so that two receipts fit on one sheet of paper.
