How to Set Up PayPal to take UK Payments

PayPal is a large online company that handles Internet transactions for customers all over the world. If you need to receive money from the United Kingdom, a PayPal account can handle this. It can handle payments from any corner in the world, so long as the payer has your PayPal email address.

Logon to the website listed in Resource #1. This is PayPal's main website. You must have a bank account, your name, address, email address and phone number to set up an account. Click on "Sign Up" at the top of the page to begin.

Choose the type of PayPal account you want. The most basic account will receive and send money securely and will not charge any fees. You can pay for more sophisticated accounts if you need to make large transactions or many transactions in a month.

Create a User ID and password you can easily recall. This will be how you access your account. Next, you must link your bank account to your PayPal account. You will likely need to make a small, one-time deposit into your account from your bank account. Once this processes, your PayPal account--with your linked bank account--will be active.

Provide your UK employer or payer with the email address you use for your PayPal account. They will need to use this to find your PayPal account when they make payments. They will not have access to these funds once deposited, and they cannot view your account either.

Consider applying for the PayPal debit card. You can use this card like a normal debit card once funds from your PayPal account are deposited into the card account.
