Salon coordinator duties

The salon coordinator plays in an important role in the salon. She must be able to multitask and possess excellent organizational skills to fulfil the duties associated with the salon coordinator position. While duties may vary depending on the location and size of the salon, most salon coordinators will be required to perform similar job duties.

Operations

The primary responsibility of a salon coordinator is to oversee and manage the day-to-day operations of a salon and ensure that productivity goals are met. The salon coordinator will schedule stylists and match clients to a particular stylist according to their specific needs. It is important that the coordinator is familiar with each stylist’s specialities. In smaller salons the coordinator also serves as receptionist and will schedule client appointments. She will also need to make schedule adjustments throughout the day as cancellations occur or appointments take longer than scheduled.

Administrative

The salon coordinator will also assist the receptionist and front desk team with administrative duties. Answering telephones, maintaining records and receipts, as well as managing reports are some of the administrative duties that the salon coordinator may need to perform.

Inventory and Sales

Salon coordinators must have expansive knowledge of the products available for sale in the salon. They should be able to help customers find products to suit their needs and increase product sales within the salon. The coordinator will also handle inventory management including ordering, receiving and stocking products, as well as general salon supplies.

Customer Service

The salon coordinator is usually positioned at the front of the salon and is usually the first contact a customer will have. She should have excellent customer service skills, be able to answer questions and assist customers during their overall salon experience. The coordinator may also need to diffuse any situations with customers who are upset or angry about the service they receive.
