How to increase the credit limit on a Capital One credit card

If you have a Capital One credit card you can request an increase of your credit limit. A higher credit limit can help out in an emergency or if you need more funds for a major purchase. You may be subject to a review of your overall credit history before approval, and if you have a poor credit history or a large balance left on your current Capital One card your request may be denied.

Apply for an increase in your credit limit by calling Capital One's customer service number on 08444 812 812.

Enter your 16-digit card number when prompted by the automatic phone system.

Select the "Increase credit limit" option from the automated menu.

Enter your credit limit increase amount and await for approval or denial. During the phone call you will learn whether your request is approved or denied. This process may take as long as five minutes while your account and history are evaluated.

To speak with an actual operator, press "0" at the start of the call and wait to be connected to a call handler.
