How to Write a Profile for a CV
A CV, or curriculum vitae, may be necessary to create before you can apply for certain advanced positions. Like a standard resume, a CV outlines your professional and educational history. However, unlike a standard resume, a CV may be several pages long.
One section you can include on your CV is a profile section. Your profile summary convinces potential employers that your CV is worth reading carefully and that you may be the right person for the job.
Create the heading for your profile. Possible headings could be "Profile Summary" or "Professional Profile."
Write three to four lines of text beneath your profile heading. This text should convince the potential employer to read the rest of your CV carefully, so you should make it as relevant as possible to the job you are applying for.
Start by stating how many years you have been working in your industry and a few of your most relevant and impressive skills. For example, "I have been working in the marketing field for five years, and during that time, I have gained skills in internet advertising techniques as well as social media marketing."
Explain what you would like to accomplish in the future in the next few lines of your profile. Try to make this relevant to the company you want to work with. For example, "I would like to continue to enhance my skills in search engine optimisation and internet advertising by working in the website development department of your marketing firm."
Proofread your profile, and add any adjectives that might describe your experience or your personal goals a little better. Try to make your profile as compelling as possible. An example of a final profile would be, "I have been working in the internet marketing field for over five years, and during that time, I gained valuable skills internet marketing, including social media marketing and website development. I would like to continue to enhance my skills in search engine marketing and internet advertising by taking over the website development department of your marketing firm."
